Helpful information on why and how to list on this Directory and how to ‘register’ as an AFA or RFA in accordance with the new regulations.

How to register

Registering on the DFA is simple...and you could win an iPad 3 for a Premium Listing. Or you can list your Adviser details free.

Registering and Managing your Account

By registering gives you access to an Adviser Profile, a place where you can edit your profile, add a personal bio about yourself, include financial services you provide, display your contact details and web and email address, include your photo or logo, update from RFA to AFA.

 

Potential consumers will be able to access your Adviser Profile depending on the  financial service they are seeking – your Adviser Profile will help them make a decision to use your services.

 

As a registered member, each time you log in, even if you are using a different computer, you will have access to your previously saved information in Adviser Profile.

 

Please read the Terms of Use before registering.

 

Register by clicking the "Register" link in the upper right corner of any screen. This brings up the Register for DFA Membership. It was ask you to sign up for 12 months membership (don’t worry your credit card details are not required yet) 

 

This will take you to Register for DFA Membership, here is where you will create your Adviser Profile.

 

Create an Adviser Profile

You are asked to provide an email address and other information so you can create an account. Your email address is your log-in identification. DFA uses your email address to send you your password when you forget it, and to send you information about related products and services. Please see our Privacy Policy for more details.

 

You are also asked to enter a password. Enter a password that you will be able to remember the next time you return to DFA. The password is case-sensitive, and it must contain at least 8 alphanumeric characters. You are asked to enter your password twice to make sure that you have entered it correctly.

 

You will notice ( * ) this means that field needs to be completed. You can now enter your personal details; your first name and surname, this will make up part of your Adviser Profile.

Trading name* this will show on your Profile

Company* you legal company details - this will show on your Profile (coming soon)

AFA or RFA* you must be a licensed AFA or RFA with a FSP number in order to register
 
FSP number* put in the number the FSPR sent you - this will show on your Profile (coming soon)

Adviser profile* this is where you get to tell clients about yourself. Write it from a third person approach, talk about your history how long you have been in the industry, achievements and awards etc. Your specialist fields and type of client you wish to work with. You can talk about family and sports to personalise your profile. Keep it to about 300 words.

Financial services* this is where you select the financial services you are licensed to provide advice on. If you cannot give advice on a certain financial product do not select it.

Any type of planning; estate, tax, succession or financial planning can only be selected if you are an AFA.    

You can always update your Profile once you can advise on that product. If you wish to add a financial product not included in the list add in Other
 
Qualifications - this is where you can list your qualifications  - this will show on your Profile (coming soon)

Street address* this can be your office or home office or registered office.

City /Suburb* choose for the list – it’s in order of provincial area.
 

Postcode* if you don’t know you postcode go the www.nzpost.co.nz web site.

Postal address - this will show on your Profile (coming soon)

Postal postcode - this will show on your Profile

Phone number* - this will show on your Profile

Mobile number - this will show on your Profile

Toll free number - this will show on your Profile

Fax number - this will show on your Profile

Industry associations - list IFA, PAA or NZMBA etc - this will show on your Profile (coming soon)

Website URL– list your web site as http://www.yourwebsite.co.nz - this will show on your Profile

Twitter – copy and paste the address from your twitter account - this will show on your Profile

Linkedin
- copy and paste the address from your Linkedin account - this will show on your Profile

Facebook -  copy and paste the address from your Facebook account - this will show on your Profile

Dispute Resolution Scheme* Choose from the drop down menu - this will show on your Profile (coming soon)

 

By confirming you are a licensed AFA or RFA you are also acknowledging and accept the Terms of Use.

 

Click Submit.

 

Payment via Paypal
You now will be asked to complete the order form and confirm your registration - include your FSP number in the notes. This will then take you to Paypal the most trusted name in online payments.  If you are not a member of PayPal, you will need to Sign Up.

 

Paypal will then request your credit card details using a secure server, a 12 month listing is $180+GST. Please used your FSP number as your reference number.

 

If you wish to pay monthly $15+GST per month, then skip this section - however you will need to email us to confirm.  

 

Once payment is accepted, you will be sent a confirmation email of your payment and a GST invoice.

 

If you wish to pay manually you can credit our account via internet banking;

You will now be taken to a page showing your Adviser Profile. You can now up load your photo, company logo and Personal Disclosure Statement (PDS).

Photo* - you are required to have a photo on your Adviser Profile, however if you don’t have one, then the avatar will be used by default. The optimum size for your photo is 113px (wide) by 113px (depth). If you can not resize your photo, email it to info@dfa.org.nz and we wiil size it correctly and email it to you.  

Company Logo – you can place your logo on your Profile. The optimum size for your logo is 220px (wide) by 80 px (depth). If you can not resize your logo, email it to info@dfa.org.nz and we wiil size it correctly and email it to you.

PDS* you must upload your PDS in pdf format which is applicable to the advice you give. If you need guidance on completing the correct PDS go to www.legislation.govt.nz/regulation

 

Click Submit

 

Verify Your Registration

Once your payment is accepted you can check your Adviser Profile. If you wish to make any further changes click on update profile and the screen will take you to the edit profile.

 

If you’re happy with your Adviser Profile click submit and your Profile will go “live”. 

 

Verification of Registration
To ensure the integrity of the DFA all registrations are checked against the Financial Service Providers Register to confirm your status is current. If you are not on the FSPR your membership registration will be declined and a refund will be credited to your account less Paypal changes and $15 DFA Administration fee.

Automatic or Manual Sign-in

If you are the only person who uses your computer, you should click the "Log me in automatically" option. If you click this option, you will be logged in automatically each time you visit DFA in the future, making it unnecessary for you to manually log in and enter a password. If you use a public computer, you should select the "Don't log me in automatically" option, indicating that you want to enter your password each time you log in. This protects you against other people accessing your account. 

 

Logging In

If you have already created an account, log in by clicking the "Log In" link found in the upper right corner of any screen. This will bring up the Log In page, where you can fill in the two boxes on the left side of the screen to complete the log-in process. 

 

Email Address

Enter the email address that you used when you registered as a member. If your email address has changed since you registered you should sign in and then go to the Adviser Profile page and change the email address associated with your account. Maintaining an up-to-date email address makes it possible for DFA to email your password to you if you forget it. 

 

Password

Enter the password you used when you registered as a member. If you have forgotten your password, click the "Forgot Your Password?" link at the top of the screen in the sign-in area. This brings up a page where you can request that a new password be emailed to you. 

 

Forgot Your Password?

If you have forgotten your password, click the "Forgot Your Password?" link at the top of the screen in the sign-in area.  This brings up a page where you can request that a new password be emailed to you. You must enter the email address you used when you created your account or DFA will not be able to send you a new password. Once you enter your email address and click the Get New Password button, a password is emailed to you immediately, along with instructions for how to use the Adviser Profile to change the password to something you can remember.

 

If you have forgotten your password AND your email address has changed since you created your account, you will need to contact DFA Support on 0800 238 626 or 09-476 9199.

 

If you do not like your current password, you can change it on your Adviser Profile page. Enter a password that you will be able to remember the next time you return to DFA. The password is case-sensitive, and it must contain at least 8 alphanumeric characters. You are asked to enter your password twice, to verify the spelling. 

 

Submit Changes Button

When you have entered the changes you wish to make, click the Submit button to make the changes permanent. 

 

Cancel Button

If you decide not to make changes to your account, click the back button. You will be returned to the page you were on prior to the Manage Adviser Profile page.
